The Messiah Festival Community Service Scholarship

To encourage and promote community service and participation through music, the St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation is awarding two $500 college scholarships to graduating seniors who participate in the Messiah Festival Volunteer Choir.

The Messiah Festival, an annual fundraiser started in 1994, is a free community performance of Handel's beloved masterpiece. This uplifting holiday classic provides a message of joy and hope, and raises money for Meadowlark House, free cancer patient lodging facility. Hundreds of local choir singers have participated in the Messiah Festival over the years and the event would not be successful without their participation. The choral volunteers who participate say that they gain as much as they give. They express the joy of singing a beautiful classic piece of music, the thrill of performing at the Alberta Bair Theater, and the excitement of being accompanied by a 28-piece orchestra. All while lending their voices to a worthy cause.

Since 2004, Meadowlark House has been providing free housing to cancer patients and their families from throughout the region, who need to stay in Billings for weeks while receiving their treatment. This facility is a sanctuary for patients with cancer and all operating costs are raised from donations and sponsorships.
