Thomas R. Johnson, M.D. Medical Scholarship

This scholarship is a tribute to the late Dr. Thomas R. Johnson. Dr. Johnson's legacy is reflected in the scholarship's elements. He was a renowned orthopedic surgeon and academic physician leader with a special focus on rural patients. Dr. Johnson's father and mother practiced medicine in Montana and Tom remained committed to patients throughout the region surrounding Billings.

The Nelles Nurse Scholarship

The Nelles Nurse Scholarship Program will provide recognition and financial support to nurses semi-annually. St. Vincent Healthcare recognizes that commitment to provide quality patient care requires a talented and experienced staff of professionals dedicated to superior customer service. As one of the largest medical centers in a four-state region, St. Vincent Healthcare employs over 2,200 people.

The Nelles Nurse Scholarship Program provides recognition and financial support to student nurses in an effort to set the highest healthcare standards and retain outstanding nurses in Montana. The program carries the name of the Ralph Nelles family - long-time supporters of nurses in our region.

The Theresa Burch Memorial Scholarship

The Theresa Burch Memorial Scholarship is made possible by the generous support of Judy Wallinder, Mrs. Burch's sister. The scholarships are given annually to a practicing nurse interested in obtaining an advanced practice nursing degree. Mrs. Burch understood the importance of great mentors and was a true advocate for the professional development of nurses.

High School Scholarships

High School Seniors Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating senior students pursuing careers in any healthcare fields. High school seniors from the following counties may be eligible for additional scholarships: Yellowstone, Big Horn, Fergus, Golden Valley, Musselshell, Wheatland, Petroleum, Judith Basin, Sweet Grass, Stillwater, Custer and Carbon Counties.

Scholarship applications will be available February 1, 2009

College Scholarships

College students pursuing careers in any healthcare field can apply for Healthcare Career Scholarships. Some scholarships require students be currently enrolled at a specific level in a college or a technical school. Some scholarships are available for students out of high school but entering college. Students from the following counties are eligible: Yellowstone, Big Horn, Fergus, Golden Valley, Musselshell, Wheatland, Petroleum, Judith Basin, Sweet Grass, Stillwater, Custer and Carbon Counties.

Scholarship applications will be available February 1, 2009
